New year, new ideas. If you want to make waves with your marketing efforts in 2018, it’s time to stop implementing the same old experiential marketing techniques. Say good bye to outdated approaches and hello to these alternative methods of generating engagement and connecting with your audience.

Workshops
What better way in which to get your audience’s attention than by teaching them something worthwhile? “Take Lush Cosmetics, for example. Last year at their annual creative showcase, they showed attendees a live demo of how their handmade beauty products are created and invited all the viewers to get involved. Doing so was a wonderful way in which to generate interest and draw attention to the brand,” says Greg Martin from Tradeway. “The most important thing to remember, however, is to keep your workshop hands-on and interactive. Talking at, or lecturing, your audience isn’t going to create anything near the same response!” continues Greg.

Site Tours
If this is possible with your business, site tours are excellent options for experiential marketing, and they usually won’t cost you a cent. As long as you have something interesting and share-worthy to show onsite visitors, you’ve got a goldmine on your hands. “For best results, make the site tours interactive, short and sweet. Oh, and don’t forget to include a few photo opportunities!” comments Greg.

Adventures
Give your audience an adrenaline-inducing experience that they won’t be quick to forget – just as long as you can relate the adventure back to your brand somehow. For example, if your brand is a sponsor of a fun event, why not host a competition that promises the winner(s) a free skydive or bungee jump? On the day of the adventure, be sure to present your winners with branded t-shirts, etc., that they can wear while they enjoy their adventure. Rest assured that they will be sharing it all on social media, leading to a massive brand visibility boost for you! “In short, make your experiential marketing efforts impossible not to share and the battle has already been won,” says Greg.
